There are over 9,000 kids in foster care in the sate of Oklahoma. Because of abuse, neglect, and drugs, children walk through the doors of our local emergency shelters every day with nothing more than the clothes on their back. To add insult to injury, their belongings may be kept in trash bags, which only makes them feel like useless people.
Children placed in foster care are taken by the police to the county emergency shelter for evaluation and placement. My brother, Jacob, felt the need to help orphans in Oklahoma. That need became Rising Hope Ministries. Rising Hope Ministries is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of orphans in Oklahoma by giving them duffel bags filled with personal hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap etc.) pencils, crayons, toys, and more. Since its start, Rising Hope Ministries has donated hundreds of bags to orphans in Oklahoma.
