I remember reading a book when I was little. It was about a kangaroo and his father. They were seeing who loved the other more. For example, the kid would say, “I love you this much!” and he would spread his arms out as far as they would go. His father then said, “I love you this much!” and would stick his arms out, farther. Seeing that, the kangaroo kid said, “I love you this high!” and he jumped. And then his father would say, “I love you this high!” and jump higher than the kid. It went on until finally the little kangaroo said, “I love you all the way to the moon!”
“That’s a long way.” his father said.
By then it was late, and the kid went to bed. Once he had fallen asleep, his father said, “I love you all the way to the moon… and back.”
Do you love God, to the moon and back? Do you love God to your death? Jesus loved you all the way to Golgotha. Jesus loved you all the way to the cross. He loved you all the way to the grave, and back. Now that’s amazing love.
Let’s say we were perfect. We had never done anything wrong. The only thing we had ever done was love Jesus. If He saved us, His love would still be completely amazing. But, no, that’s not how it was. We were sinners. We despised Him. We hurt Him with everything we were, and He saved us. That is love beyond our comprehension. That’s the kind of love we should strive for. Let’s love others like Jesus does. Let’s have the kind of love that’ll go to the grave… and back.
